Domains & DNS

Connect a domain to your hosting service

Connect website traffic while preserving working email and other domain services.

Gather the correct destination

Open the hosting service in the customer portal and confirm the domain and plan. Obtain the assigned hosting IP address or nameservers from your service details or support. The destination depends on the service: cPanel hosting and VerbumCMS do not necessarily use the same records.

Choose where DNS stays

If you keep the current DNS provider, change only the website records that your hosting instructions require. If you move nameservers, first copy the complete working zone to the new provider, including mail and verification records. Coordinate any DNSSEC changes with the registrar and DNS provider.

Make and check the change

Keep a copy of the previous configuration. Apply the supplied records at the authoritative DNS provider. Test the main domain, www if used, and HTTPS. Check mail delivery separately. Existing caches can delay what some visitors see; do not repeatedly replace correct records to force an immediate change.

When to contact support

Ask for help if you do not know the authoritative provider, the destination address, or how to preserve mail. Include the domain and intended hosting service, without account passwords. For new Verbum purchases, review the service's automatic domain-setup status before making competing manual edits.
