Security & backups

Back up and restore your website

Create recoverable copies and understand the difference between partial and full account restores.

Plan a recoverable backup

Keep copies of the website files and its databases before major changes. A backup stored only on the hosting account can be lost with that account. Protect downloaded archives because they may contain private configuration and messages.

Use Backup Wizard

  1. Open cPanel and search for Backup Wizard.
  2. Select Back Up.
  3. Choose a full account backup or the partial component you need.
  4. Follow the displayed options, then download the completed archive to secure storage.

A nearly full account can prevent backup creation. Confirm the download completed and includes the intended data.

Restore carefully

Backup Wizard can restore supported partial backups. A full account restore requires the hosting administrator; contact support rather than uploading the full archive as a website. A restore can replace current files or data, so agree on the target and backup date first. After restoration, test the site, sign-in, and forms, and confirm recent changes were not unintentionally lost.
